SAE Flange 90° Hose Fitting (Code 61)

The SAE flange 90° hose fitting is used to connect large-bore hydraulic hoses to pumps, valve blocks or SAE flange ports. The fitting end has a flange head with an O-ring groove; the head is clamped against the port with two split flange clamps or a one-piece flange and four bolts. Sealing is provided by the O-ring on the face of the head. The 90° body helps maintain the bend radius of the large-bore hose in front of the port.

It is preferred in rolling mill power units, press and mill roll hydraulics, on ship deck cranes and windlasses, on offshore lifting equipment and in the main hydraulic lines of paper and board mills.

• Code 61 (ISO 6162-1) and Code 62 (ISO 6162-2) heads have different flange thicknesses and bolt spacing for the same nominal size; they are not interchangeable.
• The permissible working pressure depends not only on the flange class but also on the size and hose type; the lowest-rated component in the hose assembly governs.
• The head face and port surface must be free of scratches.

Installation note: Tighten the four bolts in a cross pattern and in stages; the flange head must not seat at an angle on the port. The hose must not remain twisted after connection.
