JIC Female Swivel Hose Fitting

The JIC female swivel straight hose fitting is a hose end crimped onto the hose and attached to a JIC 37° male connection with a female UNF nut. The fitting's 37° cone seats metal-to-metal on the cone of the male mating part to provide the seal. The swivel nut allows the connection to be made without twisting the hose.

It is common in US-made pump and valve assemblies, in the mobile hydraulics of defense vehicles, in aviation ground support and hydraulic test equipment, and on offshore cranes and deck machinery. A stainless steel hose end prevents corrosion-related end failures in lines exposed to saltwater spray and washdown chemicals.

• The hose side of the fitting must be matched to the hose type (1SN, 2SN, 4SP, 4SH, etc.), inside diameter and hose ferrule.
• A JIC 37° female end does not mate with a 45° SAE flare male end; because the thread is the same in some sizes, they can be confused in the field.
• With a straight fitting, the hose's minimum bend radius starts after the fitting body; plan the installation space accordingly.

Installation note: Hold the fitting body with a second wrench while tightening the nut, and do not let the hose turn with the nut. A twisted installation shortens hose life.
