ORFS Female Swivel Nut Hose Fitting

An ORFS (O-Ring Face Seal) hose fitting seals by means of an O-ring compressed between flat faces. The O-ring sits in a groove on the flat face of the male part; when the fitting's female swivel nut is tightened, the flat face of the fitting presses against the O-ring. Compared with metal-to-metal cone seat connections, it maintains its seal better under vibration, pressure surges and repeated disassembly and reassembly.

It is preferred in mobile hydraulic systems in the defense industry, on cranes and lifting equipment, on offshore and ship deck machinery, and on high-cycle press and mill roll lines in rolling mills.

• ORFS threads are UN/UNF series; because some sizes use the same thread as JIC, the two can be confused, but their sealing surfaces are incompatible.
• The O-ring material (NBR, FKM, etc.) must be selected according to the fluid and working temperature.
• The flat sealing face must be free of scratches and impact marks; store parts with protective caps.

Installation note: Make sure the O-ring is fully seated in the groove; after seating the nut by hand, tighten it to the torque specified for the size. Inspecting the O-ring at every disassembly and replacing it if necessary is recommended.
