About the product

The NPT reducing bushing is fitted into a larger female NPT port to create a smaller female NPT connection point inside it. Both threads have a 60° thread angle and a 1:16 taper per ASME B1.20.1; sealing is achieved by thread engagement and thread sealant.

It is used when a smaller instrument, pressure gauge or tube connection needs to be made to valve, pump and tank ports. It is a frequent choice at measurement points in chemical and food processing plants, on gauge connections in fire pump sets and on offshore equipment.

Stacking several bushings in series increases the number of leak points and the overall length; a single part of the right size should be preferred.
The wall thickness of a bushing is limited to the material between the large and small threads; overtightening can strain the body.
NPT and BSPT bushings must not be mixed up.

Installation note: Tighten the bushing into the port first, then fit the part that connects to the internal thread. Apply thread sealant to the male thread only.
