BSP Male Reducing Adapter (60° Cone)

The BSP male reducing adapter (60° cone) is a reducing fitting with BSPP (parallel) male threads of different sizes on its two ends and a 60° cone seat at each end. Sealing does not take place on the thread; it is achieved when the 60° cone nose of the mating part seats in the cone seat of the adapter. This design mates specifically with BSP female swivel hose ends.

It is used for size transitions when joining two hoses of different sizes or a hose to equipment, at hydraulic power unit outlets, on the hose lines of ship deck machinery, in maintenance work at shipyards, and on paper and board mill and rolling mill machinery.

• BSP connections with a 60° cone seat and flat-face (seal-type) BSP connections are different; the sealing type of the mating part must be verified.
• In a reducing adapter, the bore at the small end limits the flow rate of the line; an abrupt drop in diameter can cause pressure loss.
• BSP sizes are given in inches, but the thread OD is larger than the nominal size; measure with a thread pitch gauge and a reference table.

Installation note: Keep the cone seating surfaces clean. Thread tape is not used for sealing on this connection; tape fragments can get into the line.
