About the product

A weld neck flange is butt-welded to the pipe at the end of its hub, and its tapered hub transfers the load evenly into the pipe. The hub reduces stress concentration between the flange and the pipe, which is why this type is preferred in lines subject to pressure and temperature fluctuations and vibration. It is designated Type 11 in EN 1092-1 and Weld Neck (WN) in ASME B16.5.

It is used in process lines at chemical and food processing plants, on tank and heat exchanger connections, in ship and shipyard piping, and on the discharge lines of fire pump sets.

Pressure rating (PN or Class), nominal size (DN / NPS) and hub bore must be selected to match the pipe wall thickness (Schedule).
The facing type (flat face, raised face, etc.) must be the same as on the mating flange.
The gasket and bolting are specified together with the flange according to the fluid, temperature and pressure rating.

Installation note: Check flange alignment and bolt hole orientation before welding. Tighten the bolts gradually in a cross (star) pattern, and complete surface cleaning after welding.
