About the product
A stainless steel ball valve is a shut-off valve that fully opens or closes the line by rotating a bored ball inside the body through 90°. In the open position, flow passes through the ball bore almost unobstructed; in the closed position, the ball presses against the seat seals to provide sealing. In high-pressure versions, the body, end connections and stem design are sized for hydraulic line pressure.
It is used for line isolation in hydraulic power units, as maintenance isolation points on marine and offshore equipment, in the process and utility lines of chemical and food plants, in fire pump sets and on test benches.
- Body, seat and seal materials must be selected together according to the fluid, temperature and cleaning chemicals.
- The connection standard (BSP, NPT, bite-type or flanged) and the bore (full bore / reduced bore) must match the line.
- A ball valve is designed for fully open or fully closed operation, not for flow regulation; running it for long periods in a throttled position erodes the seat.
Installation note: Leave clearance around the valve for the full open/close travel of the handle, and support the valve so that it does not carry the weight of the line. Check mounting orientation, the flow arrow and service access before commissioning.

It is not recommended. A ball valve is designed to operate fully open or fully closed. In a partially open position, the flow erodes the seat seals and the valve eventually starts to leak when closed. Use a needle valve for fine flow adjustment and a check valve to keep flow in one direction.
What information should I provide for valve selection?
The fluid type, working pressure and temperature, line size, connection standard (BSP, NPT or bite-type), required bore and the environment the valve will operate in (seawater spray, washdown chemicals, etc.) are sufficient. With this information, the appropriate body, seat and seal selection is verified.
