About the product

A blind flange is a flange without a center bore that closes off the end of a pipeline, valve or equipment outlet. It is bolted to the mating flange with a gasket; it serves as a temporary cover where the line will be extended later, as a blind to isolate equipment during maintenance, and as the line end during pressure testing. It is designated Type 05 in EN 1092-1 and Blind (BL) in ASME B16.5.

It is used on tank and header ends at chemical and food processing plants, in ship and shipyard piping, and at test and expansion points in fire suppression systems.

A blind flange carries the full line pressure across its face; its pressure rating must be the same as the mating flange.
If a threaded hole is needed in the blind flange for sampling, draining or measurement, it must be specified before ordering.
The facing type must be compatible with the mating flange.

Installation note: Depressurize and drain the line before removing a blind flange. Tighten the bolts gradually in a cross pattern.
