Description
About the product
The 90° weld elbow is a fitting with a weld end for welding to the tube on one side and a 24° cone, ferrule and nut on the other. It turns a welded tube line through a right angle into a removable connection, so that the section of line nearest the equipment can be separated for maintenance.
It is used at equipment connection points in ship and shipyard piping, on the welded outlet lines of hydraulic power units, in rolling mill and press systems, and on auxiliary process lines at chemical plants.
- Preparing the weld end to suit the tube OD and wall thickness directly affects the quality of the root weld.
- The nut and ferrule must be removed during welding, and the cone surface protected from weld spatter.
- The elbow orientation must be fixed definitively before welding; it cannot be changed afterward.
Installation note: After welding, clean the inner surface and flush the line before putting it into service. Do not try to correct misalignment in a connection by tightening the nut.
