About the product

The JIC 37° to BSPP adapter connects equipment with BSPP (ISO 228-1 parallel) ports to a hose or tube line with JIC 37° connections. Because the port side has a parallel thread, sealing does not take place on the thread; it is provided by a bonded seal, an elastomer seal or a cutting edge seating against the port face. The line side has a UNF male thread with a 37° flare seat.

It is frequently needed in plants where European-made pumps and valve blocks are used together with US-standard hose lines: corrugator lines in paper and board mills, rolling mill power units, ship deck machinery and maintenance systems for defense vehicles.

The sealing method for the BSPP port (bonded seal, O-ring or cutting edge) should be selected according to the condition of the port face.
BSPP and BSPT threads share the same pitch and 55° profile, but one is parallel and the other tapered; the port type must always be verified.
Adapters that join different thread families increase the number of connection points; wherever possible, the line should be designed to a single standard.

Installation note: Replacing the bonded seal every time the connection is taken apart is recommended; a crushed seal cannot be relied on to seal when reused.
