Equal Tee (24° Cone)

An equal tee joins three tubes of the same outside diameter in a single body; it is used to take a branch off a main line or to merge two lines into one. Each of the three ends has a 24° cone, a ferrule and a nut.

It is common for distributing supply from hydraulic power units to multiple cylinders or motors, in the return lines of ship deck machinery, and on measurement and bypass branches on fire pump skids. In the utility lines of chemical plants and the hydraulic distribution of board machines, it is preferred where a detachable distribution point is needed.

• When branching, flow direction and flow split must be assessed; the abrupt change of direction in the tee body creates a pressure drop.
• If the branch diameter is different, a reducing tee is more suitable; for a measurement or port connection, a male branch tee is the better choice.
• Plan installation clearance in advance so that all three nuts can be tightened with a wrench.

Installation note: The tee body should be connected to a line secured with tube supports; it must not carry the loads from the three tubes on its own. Position the body first, then tighten the nuts one after another.
