Bulkhead Coupling with Locknut

A bulkhead coupling with locknut is used where a tube line passes through a panel, cabinet wall, tank wall or ship bulkhead. Its long threaded body and locknut secure the fitting to the bulkhead; the tubes on both sides are connected with 24° cone bite-type ends. The pass-through point is mechanically supported and remains detachable.

It is preferred for hydraulic line penetrations between the engine room and the deck on ships, in steering gear room bulkheads, between the front and rear faces of hydraulic control panels, in fire pump enclosures and for enclosure penetrations in chemical plants.

• The bulkhead thickness must match the length of the threaded section of the body; provide the hole diameter and bulkhead thickness before ordering.
• Vibration and shock loads on the bulkhead must be absorbed by the locknut and, if necessary, additional tube supports.
• For bulkheads requiring water or gas tightness, the sealing method between the bulkhead and the body is determined per project; for permanent penetrations, a weld-in bulkhead coupling can be considered.

Installation note: First tighten the locknut against the bulkhead to secure the body, then make the tube connections. Hold the body with a second wrench while tightening the tube nuts.
