About the product

A concentric reducer is a conical transition piece that joins two pipes of different sizes on the same axis. Its large and small ends are prepared to the OD and wall thickness of the pipes they join and are butt-welded. The gradual conical transition gives lower pressure loss and smoother flow than an abrupt change in diameter.

It is used in pump discharge lines, vertical pipelines, equipment connections at chemical and food processing plants, and ship and shipyard piping.

In horizontal lines, particularly at pump suction, an eccentric reducer (flat side up) is preferred to prevent air pockets; the concentric type suits vertical lines and the discharge side.
The wall thickness of each end must be specified separately to match the pipe it joins.
The material grade should be selected from the same family as the pipe (316 / 316L).

Installation note: Check alignment before welding; on stainless steel lines, use root shielding gas and carry out post-weld surface cleaning.
