About the product

A butt-weld equal tee is a three-way welded fitting in which the run and the branch have the same nominal size. It is used to branch off the main line, combine two flows, or create bypass and drain connections. Its ends are prepared to the same OD and wall thickness as the pipe and are joined by butt welding.

It is used in header and distribution lines at chemical plants, in process and utility lines at food processing plants, in ship and shipyard piping, and in the stainless steel distribution lines of fire suppression systems.

If the branch is smaller than the run, a reducing tee should be used; adding a reducer after an equal tee increases the number of welds.
Wall thickness (Schedule) and material grade must be the same as the pipes being joined.
Erosion and pressure loss should be evaluated at junctions where flows meet.

Installation note: Tack-weld all three weld ends and check their alignment before welding, and plan the welding sequence to counter distortion.
